Hycagen’s optimised fuels and chemicals are designed through consideration of the relationship of physicochemical and energetic properties while simplifying their manufacturing process.
The Company has an innovative portfolio of three business lines for the global markets:
- Hycadiesel. A novel alternative to traditional biodiesel produced by simple manufacturing process and with superior properties compared to conventional biodiesel.
- Advanced Hydrocarbon Fuels (Hycagasoline and Hycajet). Newly designed alternatives to bioethanol/butanol and biokerosine for gasoline and aviation fuel markets.
- Bioderived Chemical Intermediates. A series of key green chemicals for diversified use in the chemical, pharmaceuticals and flavours & fragrances industries
Our most advanced product 'Hycadiesel' is an improved biodiesel composition that utilises both triglyceride and carbohydrate
derived feedstocks. It has improved low-temperature properties compared with conventional biodiesel (fatty acid methyl esters), yet the process
for its manufacture is extremely simple. A hyper-stabilised reusable enzyme catalyst assimilates the combined feedstocks into the Hycadiesel
generating no waste; the only processing step required after the reaction is filtration of the catalyst. This way, we completely circumvent
the issues of glycerol waste, use of caustic alkali, and the product wash steps needed with the conventional biodiesel process. See the press
